Robbinsville – If the March 10 meeting is any indication, the Graham Cancer Support Group has multiple ideas brewing for the remainder of the year.
Among the fundraising events pitched included raffles of a lawn mower and a car, a booth at the Robbinsville Tourism Authority’s May 7 slate – which entails a poker
run, car show and a concert by former American Idol winner Taylor Hicks – the return of the fall softball tournament, a silent auction, a pair of dinners and a countywide talent show.
None of the events were solidified, but the wide scope of choices presented should come closer to fruition at tonight’s meeting.
The Graham Cancer Support Group uses its funds to assist those battling the disease, with $19,100 disbursed last year alone for the cause. At the meeting, the group approved the quarterly payment to patients from $250 to $500 after treasurer Pam Shaffer reported an on-hand balance of $65,487.70.
