Music variety show raises $4K for cancer support

Robbinsville – Though the format was slightly altered, the Graham Cancer Support Group's annual musical fundraiser was still a hit.

'Who says you can't go home?'

Robbinsville – At the age of 10, Slade Trammell played his first concert in Robbinsville.  He knew then that piano was his calling.  “I don’t remember a period in my life when I wasn’t banging on the piano,” said Trammell.  He was enrolled at The Webb School in Knoxville, Tenn.
Prior to their performance of “Islands in the Stream” at Saturday’s “Graham County’s Got Talent 3,” Kevin Roberts and Becky Diane announced that they were married earlier in the day. Annual talent show raises $7K

Robbinsville – Delaying the third installment of “Graham County’s Got Talent” did little to hurt the effort. Originally penciled in for Sept. 28, the annual Graham Cancer Support Group fundraiser went off without a hitch Saturday at Robbinsville High School.

Cooler than the flip side of the pillow

Lake Santeetlah – Like an attempt to sell ice to an eskimo, good luck convincing the participants that Saturday’s “Polar Plunge” might be the warmest one ever held.

Quick dip

Lake Santeetlah – For the first time since February 2020, the chilly “Polar Plunge” was held. Volunteers were sponsored by area residents and businesses, and tasked with setting aside both personal ego – and all feeling in their extremities – to rush into the cold waters of Lake Santeetlah on Feb.

Cancer support group continues efforts

Robbinsville – In the last five months, the Graham Cancer Support Group has given out $15,750 to those battling the disease. The staggering statistic was presented during treasurer Pam Shaffer’s presentation at the group’s June 9 meeting.
