Cheoah – A camper trailer was destroyed and left a total loss following a fire on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2020.
At approximately 1:45 p.m., Graham County volunteer firefighters were dispatched to a trailer fire in the 110 block of Gregory Hollow Road. When crews arrived, they found a camper trailer half engulfed in flames and were able to bring the fire under control in less than an hour.
However, the trailer was a total loss.
Robbinsville Fire Chief Jeff Millsaps said that initial reports indicated that one person was inside the trailer. However, this was determined to be untrue.
“They’re all accounted for,” Millsaps said
No injuries were reported and a larger trailer on the same property was spared from the flames.
Firefighters from the Robbinsville, Graham County, Snowbird, Santeetlah and Meadow Branch stations responded. Graham County Sheriff’s Office, Graham County EMS and Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians Police personnel were also on scene.
Millsaps also said he was unsure what caused the fire.
