Alex Henry
Fontana Dam – Alex Henry recently joined the team at Fontana Village Resort as the Executive Chef/Food and Beverage Director. He brings with him a passion for fresh food and a creative flair that makes even the most common food seem new and exciting.
“I love the food of the South and there are so many creative ways to fix it,” Henry said. “Something as simple as potatoes can be fixed to accommodate almost any meat and taste bud. I also like the garden-to-table approach. We will be featuring a lot more of that freshness in the coming year.”
Originally from upstate New York, Henry attended the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, N.Y., where he received his degree in culinary arts. He refined his talent by traveling along the eastern coast, working for numerous chefs. In 2005, Graham County was finally able to benefit from his food expertise, when he became the chef at Snowbird Mountain Lodge. It was here that Henry knew he’d found his home.
“I love Graham County and plan on calling it home from now on,” Henry said. “It is my desire to incorporate the skills I’ve learned over the years with the food of the South. Fontana Village is the perfect place to accomplish that.”
Henry invites everyone to come try his creations at the Mountview Bistro, seven days a week. Breakfast is served from 7:30-10:30 a.m., lunch from 11:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. and dinner from 5-9 p.m. A special Thanksgiving feast is in the works.
