Lerew new council member

Fontana Dam – It rarely happens, but in a municipality the size of Fontana Dam even two write-in votes can make all the difference. The Graham Star was able to confirm Dec. 18 that Brooke Lerew was the write-in candidate that was previously unidentified on ballots from Nov. 4's municipal elections.

Votes gained, but seats remain same after provisionals

Robbinsville – Friday's unsealing of the 2025 municipal election provisional ballots resulted in candidates for Robbinsville's board of aldermen and mayor races all receiving additional nods of approval from constituents, but not enough to change the outcome of Nov. 4's unofficial results.

Local squad assists in park rescue

Fontana Dam – Tory Lynnes and Larry Crisp of Graham County Fire and Rescue assisted the Swain County Rescue Squad and National Park Service on a July 20 mission in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The Graham County 911 Center received a request from Swain County around 10 p.m.
