Fontana Dam – A Texas woman passed away from injuries sustained in a single-vehicle crash near the Graham/Swain County line May 20.
According to an incident report provided by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, 56-year-old Ursula Maureen Bowlin of Santa Fe, Texas, was operating a 2014 Harley Davidson in the northbound lane on N.C. 28 around 4:18 p.m., when she went across the center line and collided with an embankment.
The motorcycle traveled 15 feet after the crash, overturning before coming to a stop in the southbound lane.
Despite wearing a helmet, Bowlin did not survive the impact and was pronounced dead at the scene.
