Shaun Adams
Shaun Adams will remain the Town of Robbinsville's Mayor, but that was the only constant to emerge from the county's municipal election results Tuesday.
Adams defeated challenger – and alderman – Kenneth Hyde 83-37 to begin his second term as mayor, while Johnnie Williams (55 votes), Jacky Ayers (52) and Brenda Norville (38) were elected to serve as the town's Board of Aldermen.
Norville unseated Debbie Beasley by just two votes for the final spot.
Provisional ballots have yet to be tabulated; that process will occur at noon Friday, with results certified as official at 11 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 14.
Other receiving votes for a spot on the board of aldermen were Blake Orr (28), Jacob Bridgers (23), Hubert Merchant (20) and Lana Trull (18).
The board is now back to full strength for the first time since the resignation of Brian "Taco" Johnson in January 2023.
Other races
The Town of Lake Santeetlah Council will remain the same, as incumbents Kevin Haag (24), Jim Hager (21), Keith Predmore (21), Diana Simon (21) and Ralph Strunk (21) were each re-elected. Challenger Alan Davidson obtained 10 votes, while five write-ins were collected.
Thomas Byrd won an uncontested race (three votes) to be re-installed as mayor of Town of Fontana Dam, but appointment of the four-member council ended in an unusual manner.
Incumbents Amanda Ryan (three) and Andrew Stanfield (three) were both re-elected, but incumbent Joshua Grant did not receive a vote – instead, a pair of write-in votes will need to be identified as the remaining two council members.
