Red Hat Society organizes 2nd “drive-in” meal

Tallulah – The Lady Dragons – also known as the Red Hat Ladies – can be spotted at nearly any Graham County event. On Saturday, they could be found at Moonshiners Steakhouse.

The first annual “May B a Moonshiner” drive-in dinner was held  in the steakhouse parking lot. Originally planned to be an exclusive Lady Dragon chapter dinner, the event was made public when organizers Deborah Cheney – with the Lady Dragons – and Blake Orr – Moonshiners Steakhouse manager – worked with the Graham County Health Department and opened the event to everyone.

A limited menu was provided to patrons, who would enjoy their meals in their vehicles, or at socially-distanced chairs and tables set up in the lot.

“We are happy to be doing this, and are excited to hold this event in future years,” stated Cheney. “We hope to have a bigger turnout, a band and dancing next year.”

“It was a success,” Orr added. “We love the community support and we would love more people at the events once the pandemic is over.

“Hopefully – over the course of the next few years – this will become a countywide event. The Red Hats really do so much for the community.”
