Santeetlah – A 31-year-old Louisiana man was killed in a two-vehicle accident Friday on U.S. 129.
Lafayette resident James B. Mills II was traveling southbound toward Robbinsville among a string of motorcycles around 3 p.m., when he crossed left of center while crossing the Ted Jordan Bridge over Lake Santeetlah. His motorcycle then collided head on with a Chevrolet car that was being driven by 65-year-old Toccoa, Ga., resident Sabrina Nix, according to a report from the N.C. Highway Patrol.
Mills was pronounced dead at the scene. There was no immediate update available on Nix.
The report also noted that Mills was wearing an approved helmet. Next of kin was notified Friday night.
