God is the great I am

“Jesus said to them, ‘Verily, verily, I say to you, Before Abraham was, I Am’” (John 8:58).

Are you financially broke? Did you encounter some problems in life that needs to be addressed at once? Is there anyone in your family who’s been suffering from various addiction to substances? Are you having some difficulties with a co-worker lately? Do you feel any rejection from your family or friends?

All of us may have felt or experienced several conflicts in life, but there is a blessed assurance that Jesus Christ will deliver us and will never forsake us.

He is The Great I Am. He knows how we feel; He can tell us what we truly need in life. He is our peace, He releases the spirit of calmness and offers rest through His Word that everything is under control. He is our defender and best friend, He never fails to rescue us and console us whenever we need it.

With the many good attributes about God, we can ask for no more. He is 24-hours available for those who believe in His powerful Name. All that He asks from us is to trust Him completely as we fully surrender our lives to Him.

It is stated in Isaiah 9:6, “For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”

That truly made Jesus known as The Great I Am.

One thing is for sure: even if we are not faithful to do His perfect will, He will never reject nor despise us. The more He will draw Himself closer to us because we have been the apple of His eyes. We are very special to Him. It is written in Psalms 9:10, “And they that know Your name will put their trust in You: for You, Lord, have not forsaken them that seek you.”

He is also the Father of miracle and great wonder. He can absolutely change an obstinate heart into one submissive person. Most of all, He can heal all our diseases, including our addictions in life. Jesus has overcome the world, He paid the price, He is our only Redeemer, our Lord and Savior, and He wanted to set us free from all bondages.

Isaiah 44:22 gives us assurance, “I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, your transgressions, and, as a cloud, your sins: return to Me; for I have redeemed you.”

What a great comfort indeed to know that God is The Great I Am. We can rest in His presence because He gives us promises in the Bible that will certainly lift up our distressed spirits. He is the only one who can encourage us completely whenever we feel down or disappointed.

That’s a big promise from The Great I Am: Jesus, who is all the time our living hope.
