Graham Star writer signs off

This is probably one of the hardest goodbyes I’ll ever make: I am resigning from my position as staff writer at The Graham Star.

I know this is sudden, since I’ve only worked here for three months.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the job itself and I think I’ve done good work.

However, I have to consider my personal needs. I live in Cullowhee and the commute is difficult.

I could move here and I did consider it – I even looked for places to live nearby. But I can’t move here because of other factors.

I have genuinely enjoyed reporting for this community. I have met so many people who accepted me as their public servant. Even if I did push some buttons, it was for the benefit of the community and their right to know.

I know this isn’t the end for me; after all, I’m only 22 years old and fresh out of college. I’ll find other opportunities.

The great thing about newspapers is that with every publication, they’re a new part of history. Thank you to the Star for letting me be a part of your history.
