MyKala and her goat farm

When MyKala McGuire, age 12, asked her parents Josh and Angela McGuire for an animal, it wasn’t for what you would expect a young girl to ask for.

She wanted a goat.

That wish was granted and now one goat has led to eight, all named by MyKala: Shivers (because she shakes when she gets nervous), Oreo (because she is black and white), Cookie, Willow, Elsa, Rocky, Lucy and Ruby.

MyKala has turned her goat farm into a business. She freezes the goat milk, and turns out soaps and lotions. Different fragrances are available in these products, including olive, coconut, lavender, spearmint, orange and eucalyptus.

MyKala has her own business card, advertises on Facebook, and has her products for sale at Lovin’s Sales and Equipment farm supply store on Sweetwater Road.

MyKala would like to go into a co-op with her cousin Ella soon and sell their products together. She would like to become either a veterinarian or a farm agent.

Given such a strong work ethic at her young age, I predict she will succeed at whatever she wants to do.
