Robbinsville High School is determined to help students reach maturity – and with teachers like Lisa Keener, they are succeeding. Keener was recently named as the 2023 North Carolina History Day Teacher of the Year, for the high school division.

Mission: keep Fontana Lake beautiful

Fontana Dam – Nestled in-between the Great Smoky Mountains and the Nantahala National Forest of Western North Carolina, Lake Fontana forms the southern border of the Great Smokies.

Snowbird – Their story reads almost like a fairy tale. They were high school sweethearts. He was the quarterback and she helped write the school’s alma mater. He went off to war. She waited … and waited … and waited. He spent two years on an aircraft carrier, while she wrote letters weekly.

New finance officer introduced

Robbinsville – The individual who spent just a moment under the learning tree has been officially appointed to become the next finance officer for Graham County.

Oklahoma man killed in RV crash

Fontana Dam – Speed is believed to be the contributing factor to a recreational vehicle crashing April 26, just before the border of Graham/Swain counties on N.C. 28 North. Around 6:34 p.m., a 2007 Ford RV operated by 68-year-old Ronnie Edward Grubke of Conneaut, Okla.

Urgent care lawsuit dismissed

Robbinsville – It’s over. With a favorable outcome looking dim for the defendant, Dr. David Castor – director of Bryson City-based Smoky Mountain Urgent Care – moved to have a longstanding lawsuit between himself and Graham County dismissed on April 4.
