Robbinsville sharpshooter reaches state tournament
Columbus – Simply put, there was a lot of competitors at March 16’s District 9 shooting tournament.
So for Robbinsville’s Ryan Lynn to emerge from the pack as the top dog is quite the accomplishment.
Slashes of a perfect 200 in shotgun, 189 of rifle, 195 in archery and 130 in hunter skills propelled Lynn to not only the individual championship – but a trip to the state tournament in Ellerbe on Saturday, April 27.
Lynn provided the Knights with their best showings in each competition. Here is a breakdown of Robbinsville’s placements in the four categories:
* Archery: Lynn, 27th (195); Myley Hyde, 57th (187); Gabby Hernandez, 71st (183); Avery Brown, 76th (182); and Murphy Shanahan, 77th (182).
* Hunter Skills: Ryan Lynn, 12th (130); Shanahan, 54th (110); Jaxon Lynn, 55th (110); Hyde, 62nd (108); Hernandez, 100th (72).
* Rifle: Ryan Lynn, 9th (189); Brown, 38th (179); Shanahan, 68th (168); Jaxon Lynn, 87th (159); Hyde, 91st (154).
* Shotgun: Ryan Lynn, 15th (200); Brown, 43rd (190); Jaxon Lynn, 44th (190); Hyde, 63rd (180); Hernandez, 82nd (170).
Collectively, Robbinsville High posted 3,238 team points – good for 10th in the district and 63rd in the state.
Middle school
Competing in the junior division, Robbinsville Middle School showed the future for shooting sports in Graham County is bright, with a total score of 3,064 (7th in the district, 23rd statewide). Below is how the middle school Knights performed at the Polk County Country Club:

* Rifle: Bella Eddings, 10th (182); Rylen Orr, 40th (159); Landen Eddings, 41st (157); Deacon Hyde, 53rd (143); Hernandez, 54th (140).
* Shotgun: Landen Eddings, 7th (200); Hyde, 22nd (180); Bella Eddings, 27th (180); Orr, 43rd (170); Hernandez, 48th (160).
