4-H members hitting the woods

Members of the Graham County 4H Club have been spending a lot of time in the woods this summer visiting area waterfalls.

So far this year, they have visited the following waterfalls: Burgan’s Creek, Yellow Creek, Falls Branch, Wright Creek, and Sassafras Creek. All of these falls are in Graham County, with the exception of Falls Branch, which is located off the Cherohala Skyway in the edge of Tennessee. The program is designed to get young people out in the forest will conclude with a hike and picnic at Joyce Kilmer Forest.

The hikes are led by Graham County Extension Director Randy Collins. Hoot Gibbs and Marshall McClung both members of the Graham County Rescue Squad have accompanied the group on these hikes. For more information, please contact the Graham County Extension office at 479-7979.
