Robbinsville – Another successful junior varsity football season wrapped up in resounding fashion Oct. 17.
Hosting the Rosman Tigers, Robbinsville (5-1) scored almost at-will in the 2019 finale, recording a convincing 62-0 victory. The successful campaign bodes well for the future of Black Knights football.
“I think it was a great season,” JV head coach Wren Millsaps said. “There’s a bright future in Robbinsville (football) if this continues to grow and the kids stick together.
“They’ve got a chance to bring a lot more titles back to ‘Titletown.’ “
Kage Williams had a 68-yard touchdown and 2-point conversion, finishing the game with four carries and 98 yards.
Cuttler Adams had just one carry, but it was good for a 55-yard score. Anjalo Fierro posted 69 yards on five carries, which included separate 15- and 16-yard touchdowns, while Luke Odom tallied 71 yards on five carries, which included both 6- and 40-yard touchdowns, plus a 2-point conversion.
Also scoring was Jude Campbell (19-yard touchdown, conversion) and Austin Crisp (28-yard touchdown, conversion), plus conversion scores by Christian Phillips and Lathan Buchanan.
Robbinsville’s only hiccup of the year came at Andrews, a 20-6 loss on Sept. 26. The Wildcats finished the season a perfect 6-0. However, the Knights defeated Murphy for the first time since 2015 on Sept. 12, 48-30.
“Hats off to Andrews,” Millsaps added. “If Murphy could have held them, there would have been a 3-way tie. Andrews has a great team with some great coaching. They beat us fair and square.
“Our goal is to always get better, and be better, when it matters in four years.”
