Azalea photo contest underway

Tallulah – For the third consecutive year, The Graham Star has paired with Graham County Travel & Tourism to sponsor an Azalea Photo Contest. Simply snap a photo of the county's native flower and submit to editor@grahamstar.com. Only digital photos will be accepted (limit one per entry).

Visitor spending up in 2023

Spending in Graham County increased by two percent in 2023, according to an annual study released by VisitNC.  A recent news release from Graham County Travel & Tourism reported $55.98 million was transacted by local and visiting individuals inside the borders, which is up from $54,860,400 in 2022.

‘The Hut’ could relocate to new site

Robbinsville – Efforts to save a local landmark has received a huge amount of traction in recent weeks. Supporters working to preserve “The Hut” – a log cabin that sits on the same property as Robbinsville First Baptist Church – spoke at the Feb.

Graham County to highlight riches of trails

Robbinsville – The Year of the Trail in North Carolina will be in 2023 and Graham County plays a prominent part. Why? Here are some examples: * Appalachian Trail: The trail extends about 2,200 miles from Springer Mountain, Ga., to Mount Katahdin in Maine, of which Graham County has 22 miles.

Ride the Skyway, see the colors; get a gift

Robbinsville – Graham County Travel & Tourism is partnering with its counterpart in Monroe County, Tenn., to promote fall-season sightseeing on the Cherohala Skyway. Motorists can stop at visitor centers in Robbinsville and Tellico Plains, Tenn.

Snowbird – The first rodeo in Robbinsville in decades will be held Friday and Saturday, behind the old Bemis Lumber Yard (670 Snowbird Road).

REVVED UP struggling to find funding, volunteers

Robbinsville – REVVED UP is a non-profit dedicated to Robbinsville economic development, but is experiencing cash flow and volunteer shortage problems of its own. REVVED UP is an acronym for “Robbinsville Envisioning Vital Vibrant Economic Development and Urban Prosperity.
