New county health director announced

Robbinsville – A familiar face has been named the new Graham County Public Health Director. Angie Knight will step into the role Monday, after being hired by a committee. She was formally introduced as the new director at Tuesday's board of commissioners meeting.

Robbinsville – Thanks to a collaboration between Smoky Mountain Smiles and Graham County Schools, students district-wide started the 2024-25 year Monday without having to pay for supplies.

Blue Cross NC officials visit Graham County leaders

Robbinsville – The state of health in Graham County was of keen interest to executives of Blue Cross NC, who stopped in Robbinsville on Oct. 7 at the midway point of a tour of all North Carolina’s 100 counties. Graham County was the 51st stop in the statewide tour that began in January 2021.

School superintendent named grand marshal

Robbinsville – Graham County Schools Superintendent Angie Knight – recognized by her peers as Superintendent of the Year in the western region earlier this year – has had another honor bestowed upon her.

Superintendent discusses adjunct instructor bill

As a bill in the General Assembly allowing for adjunct instructors in public schools becomes law, Graham County Schools Superintendent Angie Knight said she saw some ways that the district could take advantage of the new rules.  Gov. Roy Cooper signed Senate Bill 582 into law on June 21.
