Final poll numbers unveiled

Robbinsville – Provisionals and lingering absentees made little impact on a pair of local races in the 2024 general election. Following Nov. 14’s provisional meeting and Friday’s canvassing, the Graham County Board of Elections officially certified the final voting numbers for Nov. 5’s ballot.

Candidates make pitch for vote

Robbinsville – The Graham Star hosted a candidate forum for the upcoming commissioner race Saturday, inside the Robbinsville High School Auditorium.  Even though the turnout was low, the candidates were passionate about the opportunity to share their thoughts and concerns with public attendees.

Writing on ballots still allowed

Amid rumors and widespread social media posts hinting that a poll worker writing on a ballot makes the submission invalid, the N.C. Board of Elections sent out an Aug. 2 release to clear up the misconception. “In North Carolina, this is false,” reads a portion of the release.

Commissioner, school board candidates greet voters

Amid the primary-voting cycle for the 2024 election, The Graham Star offered the 11 local candidates who are on the ballot a chance to greet their constituents and vie for your vote. Local races being contested are three seats each on the Graham County boards of commissioners and education.

Robbinsville – Graham County constituents are welcome to begin making their voices heard at the polls today. The 2024 primary election kicks off with one-stop (early) voting being held at the county’s board of elections office (196 Knight St., Suite A).
