New industry eyeing county

Robbinsville – What might seem like wishful thinking to some could become a reality to everyone in the next few years. It’s no secret that Graham County’s economy relies heavily on tourism, since industry has all but abandoned the area.

‘The Hut’ could relocate to new site

Robbinsville – Efforts to save a local landmark has received a huge amount of traction in recent weeks. Supporters working to preserve “The Hut” – a log cabin that sits on the same property as Robbinsville First Baptist Church – spoke at the Feb.

Robbinsville – John Colwell, chairman of the board of REVVED UP, did more than plan the organization’s annual Christmas dinner in December; he was planning his future.

Robbinsville – REVVED UP, a nonprofit group advocating economic development in Robbinsville, sponsored a fact-finding visit last week by architects, engineers and real-estate developers, to find opportunities and solutions to help the town prosper.

REVVED UP struggling to find funding, volunteers

Robbinsville – REVVED UP is a non-profit dedicated to Robbinsville economic development, but is experiencing cash flow and volunteer shortage problems of its own. REVVED UP is an acronym for “Robbinsville Envisioning Vital Vibrant Economic Development and Urban Prosperity.

Six county non-profits awarded grants

Fort Hill – The Great Smokies Health Foundation held a grant awards ceremony last Friday at Robbinsville United Methodist Church.  The following organizations attended at received their grant funds:  * Blue Ridge Bartram Trail was awarded a grant to help with their outdoor youth employment.
