Mired in controversy

Wolf Creek – Residents within the area of Wolf Creek Heights and Gunter Hollow say they have raised concerns with local officials over a RV that has parked and set up what appears to be a temporary dwelling near the N.C. Hwy. 28 roadside.

Brush fire follows rain

Wolf Creek – In spite of recent heavy rainfall, a few days of wind and sun has dried the woods enough to burn already. The Graham County 911 dispatch received a report of a brush fire out of control around 3:15 p.m. Sunday.

Road rage ends with gunfire

Wolf Creek – An Alabama man is facing charges when a road rage incident escalated to gunfire between Stecoah and Wolf Creek on Friday. Graham County Sheriff Jerry Crisp said 71-year-old John O’Banion of Wetumpka, Ala.

Fires burn over 400 acres

Almond – A cloud of mystery still lingers over a pair of wildfires that burned more than 400 acres around Fontana Lake last week. Officials first discovered the two blazes late April 14 in both the Wolf Creek and Tsali areas of southeastern Graham County. Both fires were burning on U.S.

'A school bus is hard to miss'

A frightening amount of school bus violations has the N.C. Highway Patrol reeling. Since the 2019-20 school year commenced in August, there have been nine documented instances of drivers passing stopped school buses in Graham County.
