Post-holiday spike worse than last year

Robbinsville – The usual post-holiday spike in COVID-19 cases was more than three times worse in Graham County this year than in 2021, according to testing data. Between Dec. 22 and Jan.

New COVID cases at ‘staggering pace’

Tallulah – Graham County COVID-19 cases are starting to reach rates not seen since September, with impacts to all age groups increasing at a “staggering pace,” the Graham County Health Department is reporting. Of 179 new cases recorded in Graham County over a 30-day period ending Jan.

COVID numbers increasing at schools

Robbinsville – Graham County Schools is beginning to see more issues with COVID-19, with a substantial number of students in quarantine at one of its schools.

COVID cases renew ‘outbreak’ status

Robbinsville – An outbreak of COVID-19 continues at the Graham County Jail. On Nov. 12, the Graham County Department of Public Health confirmed three active cases in the facility, keeping it under outbreak status for the next 28 days.

COVID cases continue to decline

Fort Hill – Graham County is currently seeing a downward trend in COVID-19 cases, as it begins to ramp up a county-wide vaccine initiative.  At the Graham County Board of Health meeting on Nov. 1, Health Director Beth Booth discussed the county’s current position with the virus.

Two COVID deaths reported

Graham County has marked yet another death from COVID-19.  A post on the Graham County Health Department ’s Facebook page confirmed the county’s 23rd loss from the virus on Sept. 23. The most recent prior COVID-19 death was reported on Sept. 17.

Vaccine initiative to be rolled out

Robbinsville – A new vaccine initiative will seek to increase vaccine doses administered in Graham County by 1,000.

COVID claims two county residents

Two more Graham County residents have succumbed to COVID-19. The Graham County Health Department recently announced the county’s latest deaths, bringing the total number to 22.
