Source of town’s water loss narrowed down

Fontana Dam – After years of searching, the source of a substantial water leak in one county municipality may have finally been discovered. At the Feb. 21 Town of Fontana Dam council meeting, the water plant’s ORC (Operator-in-Responsible-Charge) Carrie Stewart briefed the panel on the discovery.

Fontana Dam – It’s no surprise that the county’s smallest municipality is relying largely on revenue from a popular vacation destination to shoulder the load of the 2023-24 budget.

Council weighs garbage truck purchase

Fontana Dam – One local municipliaty is continuing to work toward acquiring a new garbage truck. At the Town of Fontana Dam council’s regular meeting held on Oct. 20, the council discussed plans to acquire a new garbage truck to serve the town.

Fontana Dam searching for new water plant operator

Fontana Dam – A local municipality is again searching for a new utilities director and water treatment plant operator. Jason Duke was dismissed from the position Aug. 24, following a domestic incident that ended with the arrest of his wife earlier in August.

Fontana Dam approves fiscal budget

Fontana Dam – Graham County’s smallest municipality has now approved its 2021-22 budget. The Town of Fontana Dam Council approved the budget in a special meeting, held on June 30. As approved, the town’s general fund budget boasts $256,201 in expected income and the same in expenses.

Fontana council fills vacancy

Fontana Dam – One county township is once again operating with a complete board.  The Town of Fontana Dam Council is back at full strength, following the swearing-in of Jason Duke at its May 19 regular meeting.
