Elder Abuse Fair set for June 15

Tallulah – It is hard to imagine that someone would deliberately – or even unintentionally – bring harm to an elderly or handicapped individual. Unfortunately, such abuse is a widespread problem. This abuse can occur in the form of financial, emotional, physical or sexual abuse.

Help available for elderly, disabled in Graham County

Robbinsville – Older people living on a fixed income have trouble making ends meet under normal circumstances, but with spiking prices for fuel, food and a lot of other things, it is becoming even more difficult.

DSS hopes to pump out assistance

Robbinsville – The Graham County Department of Social Services is adding a new service for the community. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to take its toll on the community, the department is now offering assistance with water bills in addition to its other services.

New DSS director takes helm

The Graham County Department of Social Services Board met Tuesday night, marking Graham County DSS Director Amy Seay’s first meeting in her new role.  Seay was hired in September, following the resignation of former Graham County Department of Social Services Director Cris Weatherford.

Seay tapped to lead Graham DSS

Robbinsville – After nearly four months of vacancy, Graham County will soon have a new Department of Social Services director. County Manager Jason Marino confirmed that the Graham County Board of Commissioners had approved the hire of Amy Seay to lead the county’s department of social services.

Interim DSS director named

Robbinsville – A capable hand will remain on the wheel, as Graham County continues the process of finding a new director for its department of social services.

DSS director appointed to foster care task force

Graham County Department of Social Services Director Chris Weatherford plans to use his seat on a statewide task force, to help solve the backlog of court dates plaguing the foster care system in western North Carolina and across the sate.  Weatherford announced at the department’s Feb.
