Former deputy pleads guilty to child rape

Robbinsville – A former Graham County sheriff’s deputy pleaded guilty to child-rape charges, after a lunchtime plea deal on the day his case was scheduled to go to trial saved him from a possible life sentence.

Officers see cases continued

Robbinsville – A hearing for Graham County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Matthew Cox will take place on June 30 in Swain County, after Superior Court Judge William Coward found nothing exculpatory when reviewing his file on May 6 in Graham County.

Viar arraigned on statutory sex charges

Robbinsville – A mere seven days passed between Devin McKinnley Viar’s DWI conviction and new charges being filed on the 25-year-old former Graham County sheriff’s deputy. Viar, who lists an address of 452 Old U.S. 129, had a warrant for his arrest filed on Oct. 14.
