Forest Service releases responses to management plans

Robbinsville – The U.S. Forest Service issued a Jan. 19 response to objection issues raised for the revised Nantahala and Pisgah forest plan.

At Nantahala National Forest’s Cheoah District, which encompasses around 2/3 of Graham County, it’s been a rough couple of years.

The National Forest Service is developing plans to restore Graham County woodlands that were clearcut a century or more ago – which might make environmentalists happy, but is not sitting well with many Graham County residents.
