New outlook, same location

Santeetlah – Cherohala Skyway Convenience Store re-opened under new owners and management Feb. 19.  Kae and Moe Salah look forward to meeting new friends and serving the community. Although the two men are new to the operation, their partner Imran Alam owns 19 gas stations in North Carolina.

More snowfall, more … brush fires?

Santeetlah – Apparently, the saying “history repeats itself” is true: the last two snowfalls in Graham County have both been followed by brush fires in the same weeks.  Maybe the next time it snows, firefighters will be tempted to grab fire rakes instead of snow shovels. Shortly after 3 p.m.

Hot ashes spark grass fire

Santeetlah – The Graham County 911 Center received a report of a fire spreading out of control around 2 p.m. Dec. 29. Firefighters with the Graham County and Santeetlah Fire departments, N.C. Forest Service and U.S. Forest Service responded to Golf Course Circle off U.S.

All a pleasure

Santeetlah – Lorna Sellers and her husband, Joe Sellers both grew up gardening in the area. Now the two combine their horticultural upbringings, maintaining a large vegetable garden, fruit trees and berries at their Cross Creek Road home.
