Dinschel officially wins school board seat

Robbinsville – Almost a month after the general election, all of the local races have been officially decided. Who would fill the second seat on the Graham County Board of Education has been in limbo since Nov.

Dinschel wins 2nd school board seat

Robbinsville – Yogi Berra once quipped, "It ain't over till it's over." Both Debra "Hank" Dinschel – a Republican – and Maria Shook (D) collectively held their breath as the Graham County Board of Elections presented 15 different ballots at Nov. 17's provisional meeting.

Every vote counts

Robbinsville – Both Debra “Hank” Dinschel and Maria Shook had to hope Monday’s absentee counts would provide some form of relief about which of the two would be on the Graham County Board of Education. Instead, the race is tied.

Hoxit wins sheriff race

Robbinsville – Retired state trooper Brad Hoxit easily defeated former sheriff Russell Moody for Graham County Sheriff in Tuesday’s general election, getting just over two-thirds of votes cast in the race.

Candidates state their case

Robbinsville – Candidates for local and statewide offices did their best to gain votes during a general election candidates forum held by The Graham Star at the Graham County Courthouse on Saturday evening.

Voting begins today

Robbinsville – It is really no surprise that a lot of eyes are on the Graham County Board of Elections at the moment. The board just struck down the first of eight voter challenges filed by Lake Santeetlah council member Diana Simon.

And then, there were two

Robbinsville – With the May primaries finally in the rearview mirror, local candidates are shifting their focus to the general election. It took a second primary for the Graham County GOP to learn who would represent its party in the race for sheriff.

Moody prevails

Robbinsville – Though a handful of absentee and provisional ballots are still to be combed through, one thing is abundantly clear: there will be a new sheriff in Graham County following the November election.
