Cherokee – Following a defensive stalemate in the first quarter, two Black Knights had eclipsed 100 rushing yards at the end of the night.

Robbinsville – In a frantic scramble, Cherokee had reached the Knights’ 11-yard line. The Braves had no way to stop the clock in the closing moments of Aug. 31’s junior-varsity showdown under the Big Oaks, as Cherokee had burned all of its timeouts in the moments leading up to the play.

Robbinsville – In what was Robbinsville Middle School’s final games for two weeks – the fallout of an 8th-grade coastal trip and Spring Break – the Knights could not manufacture a season split with Cherokee.
The Robbinsville Black Knights have good reason to smile: the team has recently put together its first winning streak of the season. Robbinsville – Finally. Entering Tuesday’s home game against Cherokee, the Robbinsville varsity baseball team was winless. In 5-of-their-first-6 games, the Black Knights had lost by eight or more runs and opponents had outscored Robbinsville 84-15.

Murphy – The Black Knights pushed their season to its latest possible game: the Smoky Mountain Conference tournament finals. But Robbinsville’s dance partner in the Jan. 19 title showdown was Cherokee, a team that had its number during the regular season.

Robbinsville – In the end, the Black Knights would not be denied. With a perfect season on the line, Robbinsville and North Buncombe were tied 57-57 late in Friday’s non-conference clash.
