Area man charged with road rage

Deals Gap – A road rage incident near the Graham County/Swain County line led to shots firing on Nov. 4. In the aftermath, David Glen Taylor – 52 of Bryson City – was arrested and charged with misdemeanor going armed to terror of the public and misdemeanor impersonation a law enforcement officer.

K-9 delivers perfect strike

Robbinsville – A routine traffic stop yielded one of the largest meth busts in Graham County history. On Sept. 2, sheriff’s Deputy Justin Stewart pulled over a vehicle operated by John Mark Jenkins, 54, a native of Bryson City who listed 149 Maggie Wachacha Road in Snowbird as his address.

Indiana man killed in motorcycle wreck

Deals Gap – A multi-vehicle accident just inside the North Carolina line Saturday afternoon claimed one life. First responders were unable to revive 51-year-old Darren Ege, after Ege went left of the center line and struck a vehicle head-on. The collision occurred around 4 p.m. on U.S.

Fontana – There was a fatal traffic accident on N.C. 28, as a vehicle spun out of control, left the roadway, went down a steep embankment and plunged into Cheoah Lake on Saturday.

Elizabeth Hope Holloway, 28 of Bryson City, N.C., went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Oct. 30, 2022. A native of Swain County, she was the daughter of Jack Holloway of Robbinsville and Rosa Norris of Bryson City, and step-daughter to Tony Norris of Bryson City.

Matthew Jason Moon

Matthew Jason Moon, 37, went home to be with our Lord on Friday, Oct. 21, 2022. He was the most loving, devoted father to Maddux Jordan Moon and Mattison Jasmine Moon. They were his entire world. He fought a long, hard battle of cancer and survived.

Kendra Noel Curtice

Kendra Noel Curtice, 28, the most loving devoted mother of Lily Louise, Bailee Brooke and Sadie Sue, and husband Adam Prather. She fought so long and hard, always kept her smile and her brave heart.

Jimmy Cunningham

Jimmy Dallas Cunningham, 79 of Almond, N.C., passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2022. He was born June 29, 1942 in Lincolnton, Ga. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served in Vietnam. He was a 32-degree Mason at the Winter Park, Fla.

Norma Jean Smith

Norma Jean Smith, age 54, passed away peacefully at her residence in Little Snowbird surrounded by her family. She was born on April 20, 1968 in Swain County, N.C., to Tom and Jeanette Teesateskie. She worked for Harrah’s Cherokee Casino as a gaming technician for over 20 years.
