First voter challenge evidentiary hearing set

Robbinsville – The first of two voter challenges pertaining to the outcome of the 2021 Town of Lake Santeetlah election results has been set. John and Tina Emerson will be challenged at a 9 a.m. hearing Wednesday, Sept. 28, at the Graham County Community Building, 196 Knight St.

Santeetlah rejects sheriff’s surveillance camera system

Lake Santeetlah – The Town of Lake Santeetlah council turned down an offer by the Graham County Sheriff’s Office to participate in a video surveillance program, concerned about cost, privacy issues and whether the town has enough crime to justify the cost.

Voter challenge moves to hearing

Robbinsville – After careful examination and testimony, the Graham County Board of Elections has decreed that eight separate voter challenges showed probable cause for an evidentiary hearing.

June 9 showdown set for Santeetlah budget, town zoning

Lake Santeetlah – Two public hearings, two days apart last week set the stage for one day – 5:30 p.m. Thursday, June 9, when the Town of Lake Santeetlah Town Council will decide the fate of zoning that controls development of some of the most valuable residential real estate in Graham County.

Lake Santeetlah town council tweaks spending plan

Lake Santeetlah – Councilwoman Tina Emerson, who is the Town of Lake Santeetlah’s finance officer, filled in some blanks on April 28, which were left following the first budget workshop a week earlier. The town has many needs and must haves in the upcoming budget.

Council getting complaints about dinnertime meetings

Lake Santeetlah – Residents and property owners of the Town of Lake Santeetlah will be surveyed to see if they are happy with the time that their town council meets – 5:30 p.m. the second Thursday of the month. The current board switched the meetings to 5:30 p.m. from daytime meetings.

Santeetlah tourism board seeks to spend

Lake Santeetlah – Facing the end of its only funding source, the Town of Lake Santeetlah’s Tourism Development Authority board scrambled to spend the $37,000 or so that remains in the authority’s bank account.
