Amanda Shope Keough was born in Graham County to James and Mary Millsaps Shope.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Melissa Gates; two grandsons, Joshua Willis and Tony Roberts; six brothers, Oscar McGaha, and Dillard, Clinton, Sam, B.F. and Richard Shope; and two sisters, Flossie Wilson and Pauline Shope.

Survivors include her four children: one son Michael Keough (Kelly); and three daughters, Regina Hutto (Wayne), Linda Walker (Scott), and Karen Keough. 

She has 17 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Amanda worked in textiles for years and in Chapel Grove Daycare (Gastonia, N.C.) 

She also was a homemaker. Amanda loved making quilts. 

She graduated from Mountain View High School and also graduated from Bible school in Kentucky.

Amanda loved the Lord. She showed in everyday life how much she loved Him. She taught her children and grandchildren to always love the Lord and to do the right things in life. She will be missed tremendously. 

Amanda’s funeral service was held at the Townson-Smith Chapel in Robbinsville, N.C. at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2021. Visitation was held from noon – 1p.m. at the Chapel, prior to the service. 

Burial followed at Santeetlah Cemetery.

Townson-Smith Funeral Home was honored to serve the Keough family.
