Bennie Sue Slaughter, 77 of Robbinsville, N.C., went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Sept. 19, 2021, at her residence.

A native of Graham County, she was the daughter of the late Wade and Lillie Holloway Millsaps. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Slaughter, her granddaughter, Heather Hill, daughter-in-law, Sharon Slaughter and brothers, Joe Millsaps and Bobby Millsaps.

She is survived by her daughters, Kathy Whitlock (Scott) of Athens, Tenn. and Geraldine Willis and Misty Buchanan (Trint), both of Robbinsville, N.C.; her son, Jackie Slaughter of Elizabeth City, N.C.; her sisters, Ann Blevins, Nancy Blevins, Paulette Garren and Stella Millsaps; and her brothers, Steve Millsaps of Robbinsville, and Johnny Millsaps of Hiawassee, Ga. 

Her grandchildren are Jessica Thomas, (Michael)Dayleigh (Aaron) Millsaps, Zander Buchanan, Kazeleigh Buchanan, Kash Buchanan and Addeline Buchanan. She has 12 great-grandchildren: Ally, Haiden, Landen, Elijah, Coy, Bryton, Jaxon, Tylie, Drake, Dalton, Draylon and Hardyn.

Memorial services were held Saturday, Sept. 25, 2021, at Midway Baptist Church. The Revs. James Millsaps and Coy Adams officiated. 

The family received friends from 1-2 p.m. at the church prior to the service. 

Townson-Smith Funeral Home was honored to serve the Slaughter family.
