Betty Cooper Phillips, 89 of Robbinsville, N.C., went home to be her heavenly home on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2022, at Life Care Center of Blount County, Tenn., after losing a lengthy, courageous battle with leukemia.

She was the daughter of the late James Pate Cooper and Essie Collins Cooper. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Leonard (JL) Phillips; a daughter, Karen Phillips; a grandson, Brody Ty Phillips; a sister, Berniece Rogers; and in-laws, Patton and Laura Phillips.

She leaves behind her daughter, Kaye Allison (Daniel) and her son Eddie Phillips (Latresa), both of Robbinsville, N.C.; a sister, Wilma Brisson of Roanoke, Va.; a brother, Bud Cooper (Jane) of Chapin, S.C.; her six grandchildren, Cale Rogers (Tara) of Gainesville, Ga., Rhonda Davis (Tommy) of Raleigh, N.C., Eve Odom (Mitch) of Asheville, N.C., Cassidy Adams (Cade), and Clancy Phillips, all of Knoxville, Tenn.; Elizabeth Cabe of Charleston, S.C., nine great-grandchildren, and numerous extended family and friends.

Betty was a long-time member of Robbinsville First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was a past Worthy Matron of the Robbinsville Chapter No. 224 Order of the Eastern Star.

Betty was also a successful businesswoman. She was also the CEO of her family.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 21, 2022, at the Robbinsville First Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., prior to the service. The Rev. Noah Crowe officiated. Burial followed the service at the Old Mother Baptist Church Cemetery.
