Charles Edgar “Sonny Boy” McMonigle, Jr., 91, formerly of Maryland passed away, Thursday, Nov. 10, 2022, in Punta Gorda, Fla.
A native of Graham County, he was the son of the late Charles Edgar McMonigle, Sr., and Bessie Hill McMonigle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Dennis McMonigle; brothers, Max McMonigle, Rex McMonigle, Eugene McMonigle and Gary McMonigle; and sisters, Betty Lou Deyton, Bertha Jo Walker and Mattie Belle Goodwin.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Owen McMonigle; son, Randall McMonigle of Cockeysville, Md.; daughter, Debra Hnat of Punta Gorda, Fla.; brother, Dee McMonigle of Newnan, Ga.; nine grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, 2022, at the Townson-Smith Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Shane McMonigle and Scott Roper officiated.
Burial followed the service at Lone Oak Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family received friends from 1-2 p.m. at the chapel, prior to the service.
