Daniel L. Howe, 88, of Robbinsville, N.C., passed away on Monday, Jan. 6, 2020, at his home.

He was born in Cooke County, Ill. and was the son of the late Peter Anthony and Irene Marie Lambert Howe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Howe; his brother, Ron Howe and his granddaughter, Jennifer Meyers.

He and his wife moved to Graham County in the early 1990’s. He worked for several years at Harrah’s Cherokee Casino, where he created several lasting friendships. Daniel was a Veteran of the United States Marines, having served his country proudly during the Korean War.

He is survived by his daughters, Sandy Vandeventer of Charles City, Iowa and Cynthia Lee Howe of Milford, Texas; and his grandchildren, Richard Toolate, Danielle Springer (Brian), Amy Troge (Rick), and Elizabeth Meyers.

Graveside services were  held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, 2020 at Old Mother Cemetery. Rev. Eric Reece officiated. The family received friends from 1:30-2 p.m. at Townson-Smith Chapel, prior to the service.
