Denise Burchfield, 59 of the Cochran’s Creek Community of Robbinsville, N.C., went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at the Tribal Medical Center in Cherokee, N.C.
She was the daughter of the late Thad and Charlotte Perry Shope. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Sadie Barton.
She is survived by her husband, Steve Burchfield; children and their spouses, Chad and Traci Burchfield, Chastity and Donnie Orr, and Chelsey and Daniel Barton, all of Robbinsville, N.C.; brother and sister-in-law, Darrell and Carolyn Shope of Robbinsville, N.C.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Rena and Gene Williams, and Ruth and R.L. Massey, all of Robbinsville, N.C.
She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Aubrey Orr, Chloe Burchfield, Carter Burchfield, Truett Burchfield, Turner Burchfield, Kemree Barton and Eden Barton.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 26, 2021, at Santeetlah Baptist Church. The Revs. William Wayne Adams and Patrick O’Dell officiated. Burial followed the service at Lower Yellow Creek Cemetery.
The family received friends from noon until 2 p.m. at the church, prior to the service.
