Earl Max Orr, 80, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday, May 24, 2021. He passed away peacefully at his home while under the care of Genesis Hospice.
Earl was born in Robbinsville, N.C. on March 11, 1941. He is the son of the late Paul and Ethel (Parker) Orr. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Zanesville.
Prior to moving to Zanesville, Ohio in 1971, Earl was a native of Graham County. During his lifetime, Earl was an avid deer and turkey hunter. He also enjoyed spending long hours working on his farm, working his honey bees with his buddy, James, and spending time with his beloved dogs.
Earl was employed for 30 years as a foreman in the coal mines. After he left the coal industry, he hauled mail for the U.S. Postal Service for 11 years.
Earl was a devoted husband to his late wife of nearly 50 years, Maudie “Sue” Orr; loving father to his two boys, Danny Orr and Randy Orr, both of Zanesville; and a wonderful pappy to his granddaughter, Montana (Chase) Brown of Pleasant City.
Earl is survived by his brothers, Jerry (Betty Lou) Orr of Robbinsville, N.C., Ronnie Orr of Chandlersville, and brother-in-law Lowell (Edith) Carringer of Robbinsville, N.C.; a special adopted son, Jeff Jordan of Robbinsville, N.C.; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friends, Bill Max Garland of Robbinsville, N.C. and James Wiggins of Zanesville.
In addition to parents and his late wife, Earl is preceded in death by his sister, JoNell (Lowell) Cable; and his brother, Harold Orr.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the staff at Genesis Hospice for the care they gave Earl, especially Amy and Shelly.
Visitations were held 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at the Farus Funeral Home, 383 Main Street, Duncan Falls, Ohio, 43734, where funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday. Preacher Jeff Jordan officiated the service.
Earl will be laid to rest beside his wife in the Duncan Falls Cemetery.
