Marie Gladys Moore passed away on Friday, July 9, 2021, in Warrenton, Va. She was born Dec. 30, 1921 in Robbinsville, N.C., to Abe and Julie Jordan Postell.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband for over 40 years, Andrew Jackson Moore, Sr.; brothers, Ray and Bright Postell; sisters, Bonnie Jean Postell and Madeline Garner; and son, Andrew Jackson Moore, Jr.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Carolyn (Thomas) Hansbrough of Catlett, Va., who was the caregiver for Marie for the last 13 years; grandchildren, Thomas (Kimberly) Hansbrough of Manassas, Va., Marie (Michael) Gibbons of Annapolis, Md., Andrew Hansbrough of Richmond, Va., and Christina (Michael) Andrews of Alexandria, Va.; great-grandchildren, Adam, Page, Michael, Jacob, Madelyn, Megan and Brittany; daughter, Suzanne Curtis of Robbinsville, N.C.; grandchildren, Rachel Curtis and Carolyn Curtis of Alexandria, Va.; sister, Dawn Hamilton of Robbinsville, N.C.; and brother, Huel Pastell of Robbinsville, N.C.
She is retired from the Department of Treasury in Washington, D.C. and was a member of the Federal Chapter No. 38 Order of the Eastern Star of the Eastern Star of the District of Columbia. She loved to cook, kept an immaculate house and was a passionate gardener. Her grandchildren always looked forward to fresh vegetables out of her garden and family dinners that she made with love.
No funeral or memorial service is immediately planned. The family will notify loved ones in the future when a service is scheduled.
