Opal Hooper Postell, 76, of Andrews, N.C., formerly of Robbinsville, N.C. went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2019 at Valley View Care Center in Andrews, NC.
A native of Graham County, she was the daughter of the late John Ben and Laura Edna Thompson Hooper. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Postell, and her brother, Clarence Hooper.
Opal is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Johnny and Ann Hooper of Topton, N.C., and her brothers, James Hooper of Andrews, N.C., and Richard Hooper of Hampstead, Md.; her sister, Laquita Waldroup of Robbinsville, N.C. and sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ruth and Jack Eastwood of Gastonia, N.C.; her sister-in-law, Linda West Hooper of Peachtree, N.C.; and her brother-in-law, Jerry Postell of Robbinsville, N.C. She also has several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2019 at the Townson-Smith Chapel. Revs. Daniel Stewart, Wayne McGuire, and Steve West officiated. Burial followed at Bear Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family received friends from noon until 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Chapel, prior to the service.
