Peggy Lee Teesateskie, 72 of Robbinsville, N.C., passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at Mission Hospital in Asheville, N.C., after an extended illness. 

She is the daughter of the late Lee Teesateskie and Caroline Wachacha Teesateskie. 

Peggy retired from Cherokee Indian Hospital, where she worked as a dental assistant. She was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church.

Peggy leaves behind children, Victoria W. Sluder (Albert), Alfred Welch Jr. and Dinah W. Nunez (Jose); grandchildren, Caroline Vasques (Michael), Connor Welch, Jose Nunez Jr. (Tonya), Kaleisha Knighton (Jasper) and Corbin Nunez; great-grandchildren, Greyson and Elijah Vasques, Jayden, Ethan and Ty Chekelelee, Dray Panther, Kyler and Wilson Nunez, Westin Knighton and Lively Crue Colindres Nunez; brothers, Gary Lee Teesateskie and Frances Smoker; and one sister, Martha Ledford.

Visitation was held on Monday, June 14, 2021 at Zion Hill Baptist Church in Robbinsville, N.C. A funeral service began at 1 p.m., with pastors Ernie Stiles, Greg Morgan and Noah Crowe officiating. Burial was at the Teesateskie Cemetery. Pallbearers were Shane Welch, Jason Rivera, Tate Thomason, Carlos Esquivel, Israel Weeks and Paden Welch.

Long House Funeral Home in Cherokee, N.C. assisted the family with final arrangements.
