Raymond David Williams Sr., 72 of the Fort Hill Community in Robbinsville, N.C., passed away, Friday, May 7, 2021 at his residence.

He was a native of Graham County and the son of the late Leonard Williams and Zelma Lee Jenkins Rogers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents that raised him, Allen and Gladys Jenkins; his daughter, Aileen Howell; and sister, Edina Williams.

Raymond retired from Alcoa and Graham County Transit, and he also ran Williams Lawn Care service for many years.  Raymond was a fixture in Graham County, having served with the Graham County Rescue Squad for 53 years and serving as a Graham County Commissioner for 28 years. He touched many lives while helping the Rescue Squad and serving as a Commissioner. He will be deeply missed. 

He also served as a deacon at Midway Baptist Church.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Mary Ann Sawyer Williams; son, Raymond D. Williams Jr. of Robbinsville, N.C.; brother, Douglas Rogers; sisters, Cathy Eller of Cary, N.C., Claida Williams of Robbinsville, N.C.; Tracie Farley of Pigeon Forge, Tenn.; and grandchildren, Joshua Price and Madison Rae Fisher.

Arrangements for a memorial service will be announced later.
