Shirley Sherrill, 86 of Robbinsville, N.C., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2022, at Graham Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

She was a native of Graham County, and the daughter of the late Jack and Ada Phillips Odom.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Sherrill; brothers, Odema Odom and Noyl Odom; sisters, Bonnie Orr, Deloris Odom and Laura Odom.

Shirley was a military spouse and lived in various locations, in the United States and internationally, while her husband Jerry was in the Army. After Jerry’s retirement from the Army, he and Shirley moved back to Robbinsville, where Shirley worked for Phillips and Jordan, Inc, and then American Uniform Co. until she retired.

After retirement, she enjoyed shopping, watching sports and Jeopardy on television, doing crossword puzzles, and reading.

Shirley also had a strong love for her favorite candies and “junk food.” She was known for her delicious turkey and dressing, always a favorite with her family.

Shirley was unwavering in her Christian faith; as a child, she attended Lone Oak Baptist church and as an adult, after returning to Robbinsville, she attended Sweetgum Baptist Church.

She is survived by her sister, Mildred Jordan of Robbinsville, N.C.; brother, Coy Odom of Robbinsville, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, 2022, at the Townson-Smith Funeral Home Chapel.

The Rev. Jack Millsaps officiated.

Burial followed the service at the Old Mother Cemetery.

The family received friends from 1-2 p.m. Saturday at the chapel, prior to the service.
