Terry Ray James, 60, of Robbinsville, North Carolina, peacefully went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 19, 2021.  Terry was a devoted husband to his wife of over 40 years, Marilyn James, a loving father to his daughter Stephanie Caler and her husband, Christopher Caler, and was the most wonderful and supportive Paw to his grandchildren, Andrew and Addison Caler.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Reverend Frank James, Sr. and wife Hollis James, his twin brother, Perry James, his close friend and Marilyn’s grandfather, Fred Williams, his mother Mary Jane James and his maternal grandparents Mack and Berta Grant.

Terry is remembered most for his unwavering faith in God and for sharing his testimony with all people who crossed his path.  He was a man that would lend a helping hand to any family member or friend in need, expecting nothing in return.  Influenced by the love and care of his own “Paw and Maw James” (Rev. Frank James, Sr. and Hollis James), he became the very same “Paw” to his own family, leading his two grandchildren to be saved and emphasizing to his daughter and her husband the importance of keeping God first in all things.

He practiced land surveying for 40 years, and through this work made lifetime friends and connections.  When not working hard to support and grow his family, he loved hunting and fishing, and passed down these skills and hobbies to his children and grandchildren.  He loved spreading laughter with jokes and stories from his life’s adventures, and kept his witty sense of humor until the end.

Terry was laid to rest at Lone Oak Baptist Church Cemetery in Robbinsville, N.C. on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at 11 a.m.  To help remember and celebrate his life, please share memories you may have of Terry and send them to the family via post or email, cs.caler@gmail.com.

These stories will be shared with his children and grandchildren for years to come.
