William E. Grant “Bill” 84, went home to be with the Lord on the afternoon of Thursday, Sept. 30, 2021, in the presence of his family.

Bill was the son of Mack W. and Berta Grant. He leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Jane Gladden Grant; son, Russell Grant; daughters, Teresa Holder (Marty), Marie Hollifield (Jeff) and God-daughter Georgina Ditmore Carringer; grandchildren, Whitney Riddle (Donnie), Brittney Holder (T.J.), Brian Warren (Kirstin), Brandy Hollifield and Andrea Howell; great-grandchildren, Zak Riddle, Kendrix Orr, Ashton Hollifield, Emili and Madison Warren, Kylie Davis and Brooklyn Moore.

Bill was preceded in death by sisters Josephine Sawyer and Mary Jane James; and daughter-in-law Wanda Grant.

Bill was a humble, God-loving family man that lived his life as a servant to God. He was a deacon at Sweetgum Baptist Church, young married class Sunday school teacher, singer in the choir and a counselor to many. He loved everyone and never had an unkind word. He and Jane raised their children with strong Christian values and much love.

He treasured his time spent on the lake with his fishing buddies; time with his family, friends and enjoying his front porch.

Graveside military services were held at the new family cemetery on 287 Denton Farm Road, at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, 2021, which honored staff Sergeant William E. Grant, Fourth Army Headquarters, Special Forces at Fort Hood, Texas. The Rev. Daniel Stewart  officiated and flag presentation was conducted by the N.C. National Guard Honor Guard.
