Personnel complete pair of search missions

Hikers have kept regional emergency personnel busy for most of 2020. Officials with the Graham County Rescue Squad, U.S. Forest Service and the Monroe County, Tenn. Rescue Squad and EMS were dispatched to a pair of separate incidents last week, both of which began in Graham County.

Facility ‘confident’ about curbing virus

Tourism spending is up

Recent data released by Visit North Carolina revealed that domestic tourists spent $31,620,000 in Graham County during 2019. The figure is a 7 ½ percent increase from 2018.

$1.2 million bringing high-speed to county

A collaborative study by several county entities may finally pay off. Gov. Roy Cooper announced Sept. 4 that a $344,447 broadband grant had been awarded to Bryson City-based SkyWave, Inc. The company also services Graham County.

Cherokee historian passes away

Tuskeegee – No matter what role T.J. Holland filled, he always had Cherokee heritage as his motivation. The beloved member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians passed away Saturday following an accident at a residence on Upper Tuskeegee Road. He was just 44.
