Bible Study coming to Shepherd of the Mountains

Murphy – Men, women and teens are invited to participate in a Bible Study based on the book "Exposing the Spiritual Roots of Disease" – plus its study guide, compiled by Dr. Henry W. Wright. The subtitle of both books is “Powerful Answers to your Questions about Healing and Disease Prevention.

'Dirty Laundry'

A nearly 11-month, undercover investigation culminated Friday with the execution of search warrants at a total of 10 different locations across three counties and two states.

Vance M. Hedrick

Vance M. Hedrick, 82, went to his Heavenly home Thursday, April 21, 2022, surrounded by much of his family. Vance was born and raised in Graham County, N.C. and he retired from Stanley Furniture. Vance was an integral member of the community and dedicated much of his time doing things for others.

Lonnie Collins

Lonnie Elvin Collins, 70 of Murphy, N.C., passed away Thursday, Dec. 9, 2021 at his residence. He was a native of Jacksonville, Fla., where he had lived until moving to North Carolina in 1995. He had served in the U.S. Marine Corp and was a Vietnam veteran.

Gary Chamberlain

Gary Chamberlain, 74 of Murphy, passed Friday, Jan. 29, 2021, at a Flat Rock, N.C. hospice facility, with his wife Karen – of 21 years – by his side. Gary was born in Vancouver, Wash. to Joe and Arlene Chamberlain. The growing family spent their early years in Nyssa, Ore.

Local man dies after Cherokee County crash

Murphy – A Robbinsville man has died from injuries sustained in a four-vehicle collision on Old Ranger Road in Murphy.  The death of 56-year-old Robbinsville resident Kenneth Blevins was confirmed by the N.C. Highway Patrol. Blevins succumbed to injuries sustained in the Dec. 17 crash at 7:33 a.m.
