Mountain life highlighted

Stecoah – In spite of threatening skies, the 23rd annual Stecoah Valley Cultural Arts Center’s Fall Harvest Festival, ranked by the Southeast Tourism Society as one of the Top 20 Events of 2019, turned the 10-acre Stecoah campus into a two-day “quintessential showcase of traditional mountain life.

Students learn arts and crafts

Stecoah – The Stecoah Valley Cultural Arts Center hosted a week-long Arrowmont ArtReach-on-the-Road program which gave more than 340 students from Graham and Swain counties the chance to spend a day studying traditional Appalachian arts and crafts in a studio setting.

Jones Brothers Performing at Folk School

Brasstown – The Jones Brothers will perform a Friday night concert at the John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, N.C. at 7 p.m. on September 27. The show will be held in the Keith House. Admission is free, but donations are appreciated.

Ladies for Liberty visit Stecoah

Stecoah – Ladies for Liberty, a singing group specializing in nostalgic and patriotic tunes, visited the Stecoah Valley Cultural Arts Center on Sunday at the behest of Mel Greene, past president of the 82nd Airborne Division.
