Women’s Club raises $630 for good causes

Stecoah – The Graham County Women’s Club Easter bakers baked 16 carrot cakes, 10 coconut cakes, 11 lemon meringue pies and five dozen hot cross buns — all sold out at $15 per item, which raised $630 for a variety of charitable causes.

Emerging from pandemic

Stecoah – Stecoah Valley Cultural Arts Center is rebounding from the COVID-19 pandemic, with new folks at the helm. As a result, programs from previous years are resuming and new ideas are formulating. COVID-19 forced Stecoah Valley Cultural Arts Center to close for most of 2020.

Lawrence Allen Price

Lawrence Allen Price, 56 of the Stecoah community in Robbinsville, N.C., passed away, Saturday, April 2, 2022, at Mission Hospital in Asheville, N.C. He was a native of Gaston County, and the son of the late Lawrence Glen Price and Ellen Gosnell.

Giles Jeremiah Williams

Giles Jeremiah Williams, 81 of the Stecoah community of Robbinsville, N.C., passed away Thursday, March 3, 2022, at his residence. A native of Graham County, Giles was the son of the late Charles and Clota McCracken Williams.

Pearl Bailey Williams

Pearl Bailey Williams, 78 of the Stecoah community in Robbinsville, N.C. passed away Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021, at her residence. She was a native of Graham County, and the daughter of the late Clyde and Vergie Tipton Bailey.

Miranda Millsaps born into a love of music

As far back as Miranda “Mandy” Seagle – now Millsaps – can remember she has loved music and singing.   Her father Danny Seagle played with a band called “The Toy Factory” which included some members of the Marshall Tucker Band.

Ronald Jenkins

Wiring being explored as cause of fire

Stecoah – Investigators are still trying to narrow down the culprit behind a fire that destroyed a long-time staple of the community. Around 9:30 p.m. Aug. 2, crews from seven different fire departments – in two counties – were dispatched to the Stecoah Diner on U.S. 28 North.
