Dr. Ted Jenkins

Dr. Ted Jenkins, age 87 of Johnson City, Tenn., passed away Thursday, Feb. 4, 2021 due to a brief and unexpected battle with cancer.  He was born on July 8, 1933 to Hector and Inez (Edwards) Jenkins in the Stecoah Community of Robbinsville, N.C.

Georgia man perishes after New Year’s crash

Stecoah – A Georgia man has died following a New Year’s night crash on Hwy. 28 in Graham County. The N.C. Highway Patrol confirmed the Jan. 11 death of 46-year-old Nghia H. Le, from injuries sustained in the wreck. Le’s address was listed as 5510 Stonewood Court in Norcross, Ga.

Jason Lequire

Jason Earl Lequire, 39 of the Stecoah Community of Robbinsville, N.C., passed away, Monday, Dec. 28, 2020 in New Hampshire. He was the son of Kathy Daniels Cody and Danny Cody of the Stecoah Community, and Mackie Lequire of Robbinsville, N.C.

Ann Marie Page

Ann Marie Paige, child of God, passed away Sunday, Dec. 20, 2020, after a brief illness. Ann was born on April 24, 1965 to James and Eldred Paige of Stecoah, N.C., deceased.

Stecoah executive director resigns

Stecoah – A longtime fixture at the Stecoah Valley Center will be saying goodbye this spring.  Beth Fields announced her resignation as the center’s executive director in a Dec. 1 letter, saying that she wished to be closer to her family. Fields’ resignation will be effective March 31, 2021.

Don Holder

Don Holder, 77 of the Stecoah Community of Robbinsville, N.C., passed away, Monday, Oct. 26, 2020. He was a native of Blount County, Tenn. and the son of the late Boyd and Esta Burrell Holder.

Beginning a new chapter

Stecoah – A local resident has released a continuation to a book published 19 years ago. The Nantahala River, A History and Guide is the latest work from Stecoah resident Lance Holland.

Roy Bailey

Roy Bailey, 80 of the Stecoah community, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2020, at his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Vergie Bailey. Roy is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Frankie Farr Bailey; his children, Kim Newman (Kurtis) of Almond, N.

County, Stecoah discuss new lease

Robbinsville – The renewal of a lease between Graham County and the Stecoah Valley Cultural Arts Center needs to be completed within the next month. All indicators are that the final paperwork will come just in time.

County discusses new courthouse

Robbinsville – Graham County is edging closer to breaking ground on its new courthouse. County project manager Jason Marino presented the board of commissioners with three preliminary designs on Aug. 20.
